Fleas Medicine
There are both prescription and non-prescription fleas medicine you can get for your dog or cat. Fleas are very bothersome to both pets and their owners. Not only do they bite your pet and suck their blood, they can and will feed on humans also. Fleas are fast breeders and when there's one, there may as well be a million. Once you've got a flea infestation it can be very hard to get rid of. That is why the best offense is a good defense, especially when it comes to these tiny terrorizers.
Consider a topical on the spot treatment for your dog or cat. There are products available by prescription from the vet and products you can buy from the store that are applied to your pet's neck and last a whole month. Application is simple, you just part the fur at the back of your pet's neck where they cannot reach to lick or bite and apply the small amount of liquid which is usually encased in a plastic vial. It's really that simple to protect your beloved pet from fleas, ticks and larvae. Examples of top topical products include Frontline, Advantage and Revolution just to name a few.
There are other types of flea treatments available from stores. You can buy shampoos, dips, powders, sprays and more. These types of products are sold at top pet store chains like Petco and Petsmart as well as locally owned pet stores. You can even find them in supermarkets and discount department stores like K-Mart and Wal-Mart. Some of the top over the counter brands for flea and tick control include Hartz and Zodiac. You can even find natural products like Natural Chemistry De Flea Pet and Bedding Spray.
You should understand that most of the time the most effective fleas medicine is that which is provided by your vet. Prescription flea products are highly effective in killing fleas, ticks and larvae and preventing future invasions. However if you do go with an over the counter product read all product literature carefully and make sure you are using a product that is made for your pet's species, age and weight. Also products made for ridding your home of fleas should not be used on your pet and vice versa.
